Today’s Student Spotlight is all about Chestin, CEO of Central Designz out of Central Academy in Toledo. With teacher Michele Williams at the helm, Central Designz makes t-shirts and bracelets to raise awareness of student related issues like bullying.
Chestin and his classmates worked together to figure out what they wanted to make. During their product design, Chestin was struck with a fiery bolt of networking inspiration. “My dad has a business. He makes shirts and clothes. So I asked him one day if he would make shirts and clothes for our school, and he said yes.” With the help of Chestin’s dad, Central Designz has been able to make some rad shirts and also connect with a community business owner!
Chestin has big plans to take over his Dad’s business one day, and says that being CEO at Central Designz is helping to prepare him for that role while he helps out his dad in the meantime. “It lets me help my dad out because when I get older I would like to take over my dad’s business, and I’d really like to expand it. So, running this business right now is really helping me get understanding of how to run a business when they get older.”
Working with Central Designz and helping his Dad out with the business has Chestin thinking about his future. What’s next for him after middle school? After high school? “When I do go to college, I would like to learn how to run a business. Running this right here is just starting me off, but when I go to college I can really get a feel for it, and I think that Central Designz is going to be a big company in the future.”
We couldn’t agree with you more Chestin, and we can’t wait to see what more Central Designz accomplishes!
